TWENTY-ONE preschool teachers from the provinces of Cakaudrove, Bua and Macuata will graduate today from a training workshop organised by the Fiji Kinde Project.
Project founders Ann and David Cooper said their training workshop was initially meant for eight kindergarten teachers.
Mrs Cooper said, however, they could not turn away the other 13 who turned up at Qumusea Primary School in Macuata since they felt that they had a great need to be part of the course.
"At the end of our training workshops, the students graduate with certificates recognised by the Ministry of Education and are given a suitcase filled with all sorts of preschool teaching materials," she said.
"We told the rest of the students that those who graduate without the teaching materials will receive theirs next year on our return.
"The bags are worth $US1200 ($F2229) and contain all the basic material needed to start a kindergarten class."
Mrs Cooper said they were honoured to be part of the preschool teachers' enlightenment to be better and qualified teachers in their kindergarten classes.
