SHE wants to take advantage of the carnival hosted in Tavua and highlight the growing concerns linked to the rising number of teenagers involved with drugs.
Miss Civil Servant Erevi Tovolea will use the platform of the upcoming Vodafone Gold and Water Carnival to encourage young people to consider the better side of life without drugs.
"We see so many school students getting involved with drugs," she said.
"I want to see them move away from that."
Miss Tovolea, 20, is a staff member of Tavua Hotel, working as a food and beverage attendant.
"I grew up watching the Hibiscus Festival and since then, it has been a dream of mine to participate in a pageant.
"My parents are extremely proud and supportive.
"I will also be the first from my family members to be in a pageant and that is really inspiring."
