THE Wailevu Baby Blacks beat Army 19-18 to win the final of the Macuata Provincial rugby club competition at Subrail Park Ground 2 yesterday.
Wailevu's Napolioni Bilo kicked over two penalties while unconverted tries were scored by Waisale Kuruisaravi and Tevita Tawake to put them 16-0 ahead.
The men from Sukanaivalu Barracks managed to successfully convert a penalty and score a try to Jone Laivou and trail 8-16 at halftime.
Army came back strongly in the second half with a converted try to Sailia Motosiri and a penalty put them ahead 18-16.
Wailevu answered back with another successful penalty to win the match 19-18.
Wailevu Baby Blacks coach Isoa Rokobici said he was proud of his players' performance.
"They managed to perform under pressure and for a young side like ours, it is an honour to prove our worth out there," he said.
"Wailevu came back to confirm its position in the Macuata club competition and the boys proved themselves today."
