NAITASIRI coach Eroni Vereivalu hailed his captain Waisea Luveniyali for leading the team by example in the Farebrother-Sullivan Trophy win yesterday.
The former Flying Fijian played a pivotal role in the Highlanders 25-23 win at the ANZ Stadium in Suva.
The 28-year-old fly half, known as Wise to friends, marshalled his troops with courage and determination and also kicked a penalty and two conversions in the hard-fought win.
Vereivalu said Luveniyali was one of their strengths.
"I just got a very good pivot, the general in the first five-eighth. I'm thankful for Wise Luveniyali, he really delivered today (yesterday).
"If the national selectors were watching him, I would be happy if they consider him for the northern tour."
Luveniyali, who had a stint with the English club Harlequins in 2008, played his first match for Naitasiri this season.
He thanked the players for the hard work and sacrifice in claiming the prestigious trophy.
"It's a real honour for me and I thank the Lord for the opportunity to express the talent that He gave me," Luveniyali, who earned 16 Test caps with the Fiji 15s team, said.
"Hats off to the boys for sacrificing and the board members for the support. We came here with the motive to win and we stuck to the game plan to achieve that goal."
