Veiuto Primary School collected over $600 last week to give to the fire-struck Sigatoka Methodist Primary School.
According to a Methodist church statement, the money given were the result of collections from students, the school and parents at the school.
"The students, staff and parents of Veiuto Primary School have this morning (Friday) donated $619.70 to the Methodist church which was presented in a traditional i-Taukei ceremony," the statement read.
"This was an initiative by the head teacher and the school board, students, parents and staff were happy to be able to make this donation, as a token of their support for the students and teachers of Sigatoka Methodist Primary School."
Upon receiving the donation, the church's Reverend Tevita Banivanua said although the official appeal was yet to begin, he and other members of the church were grateful for their assistance.
"We are so very encouraged by the love that they have shared and we hope other schools will follow the initiative of Veiuto Primary," Rev Banivanua said.
The official launch of the appeal is expected to be held later this week.
