THE Nadi Volleyball Association will start its season with the knockout competition next month. Association secretary Anasa Qio said they would commence their league competition soon after which would run for six months. The knockout starts at the Airports Fiji Limited courts on September 28. Registration fee is $20 per team.
THE Fiji Gold Nasinu Netball Association awards night will be held on November 1. The awards night was to be held last night. The association decided to postpone the date to wait for president Alini Sovu, who is in New Zealand for medical treatment, to return. The event will be held at the Noble House in Suva.
CENTRAL Teachers remained unbeaten in the NewWorld Suva Netball Association Business House competition. Central Teachers remained unbeaten after eight games and lead the points table with 16 points. Digicel, 13, and Lawyers, 12, are in second and third spots respectively. The competition continued at the National Netball Centre last night.
THE Marist Eastgate Memorial Tournament would be officially opened by Fiji National Sports Commission chief executive officer Peter Mazey today at 11am at the National Hockey Centre in Suva. Teams from Ba, Lautoka, Nadi and a large contingent from Suva are expected to participate at the three-day tournament.
MORE than 12,000 spectators graced the ANZ Stadium to witness the Battle of the Bati clash between the Fiji Residents and Overseas Fijians on Thursday night. The spectators were treated to a mouth-watering clash where 34 players battled for a spot in the Vodafone Fiji Bati team to the Rugby League World Cup in England next month.
THE Fiji under-18 rugby team arrived in Australia for its Tri Series Test against the Australian and New Zealand Schoolboys. Yesterday, team manager Lionel Danford said the boys were focused on the opening game against the Country Schoolboys on Monday. The side plays New Zealand next Friday, Australia on October 1 and Australia A four days later.
