AUCKLAND - Australia struck back to beat Constellation Cup holders New Zealand 47-45 in a pulsating second Test in Auckland on Thursday to tie the five-match netball series at 1-1.
The Diamonds did most of the front-running, but the Silver Ferns kept coming back at them, twice closing to within a goal in the final quarter.
However, a four-goal run that took them out to 46-41 ended up being enough for Australia despite the home side's desperate efforts at the end.
Diamonds coach Lisa Alexander praised a "really gutsy performance" from her players, who snapped a five-game losing streak that included a series against England and the 55-51 first Test defeat in Invercargill.
She said there might have been times when they were questioning themselves a bit.
"But they came through and they showed that belief, which we've been speaking about and that's really important for us," she said.
