SUNDRESH Chetty has been appointed CEO of the Sugar Cane Growers Council, according to Sugar Ministry permanent secretary Lieutenant Colonel Manasa Vaniqi.
Mr Chetty had acted in the position for the past four years.
"I can confirm that Mr Chetty has been officially appointed CEO of the council and now has the ability to make bold decisions and steer the direction of the council as we move together to take the industry forward," he said.
Mr Chetty said he had a long and proud association with the sugar industry.
"I have been with the council for more than 20 years and have always endeavoured to provide services to the best of my ability and I will continue to do so," he said.
"With the reforms being carried out by the government in the sugar industry, the council will continue to work closely with the stakeholders to ensure a viable industry in the years to come so that growers enjoy cane farming and improve their standard of living."
He was raised on a cane farm and also owns a 10-acre farm at Nanuku in Ba.
