A PARENT of one of the 10 children allegedly assaulted by senior students at the Natabua High School hostel last weekend has officially lodged a complaint with police.
Police spokeswoman Ana Naisoro confirmed they received a complaint six days after the incident occurred.
"Yes, we received an official complaint yesterday (Thursday)," she said.
According to the victims, an incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday morning when students from forms three to seven were allegedly beaten by senior prefects in the hostel because of their sexual orientation.
The incident has sparked an official investigation by the Education Ministry whose permanent secretary Dr Brij Lal said further action would be taken once this was completed.
Meanwhile, the Natabua High School Old Scholars association said it did not condone bullying of any nature.
"We welcome an investigation by the relevant authorities and hope the issue will be dealt with in a timely and professional manner," the association said.
Parents, teachers association president Samuela Tamani said he was yet to receive a report of the incident from the school.
