A VILLAGER of Lakeba in Saqani has expressed the frustrations of his people regarding their daily bus service which has stopped for a month now.
Neipote Buka said the farmers' market produce had rotted because they were unable to transport it to the market by bus.
He said village students had also been greatly affected by the disrupted service.
"The disrupted bus service affects Dogotuki, Saqani and other neighbouring areas," Mr Buka said.
However, Pramod Enterprises Limited owner Pramod Chand said the villager's concerns were groundless.
Mr Chand said his company had to stop the service for the past two weeks because of the pathetic road conditions.
"We will not resume normal operations unless and until the road conditions improved," Mr Chand said.
Fiji Roads Authority CEO Neil Cook said a section of the Natewa West Coast road, between Dogotuki and Saqani, had become impassable for heavy vehicles as a result of the wet weather.
"The contractor is working on this section of road grading and re-sheeting the affected areas to make them usable again," he said.
Mr Cook said they had worked out arrangements between Blacktop and their other subcontractors for road improvements in the North.
