A LOCALLY-OWNED insurance firm has joined others in offering help to Sigatoka Methodist Primary School.
Sun Insurance yesterday gave $5000 to the Methodist Church in Fiji to help in the rebuilding of the school.
This gift has made the current tag line of the company's advertising campaign Vinaka Sun all the more fitting.
Board chairman Padam Lala said he was saddened by the news of the fire at the school.
"When we heard, we knew we had to step forward. We would like to see the school rebuilt as soon as possible," Mr Lala said.
He said the sympathies of Sun Insurance were with all those involved in the running of the school, who contributed a huge amount to the field of education.
"Today, we would like to do a small donation, but this is not the last. If we can offer any further help, we would like to assist."
Methodist Church general secretary Reverend Tevita Banivanua said the church was grateful for the gift.
"We know that many people were touched because of what took place there and we are indeed very grateful for people like you and the company that you represent."
