A FORMER Fiji national will be deported to Fiji once he serves his 10-year sentence in New Zealand.
Satish Narayan Mishra appeared before Judge Tony Adeane in the Gisborne District Court where he pleaded guilty to sexual conduct with young persons aged 13 and 15 at the time the offences were committed.
Mishra was charged and convicted of rape, indecent assault and sexual assault.
According to The Gisborne Herald newspaper, Mishra had a sexual relationship with a 13-year-old Gisborne girl, raped a 14-year-old, and indecently assaulted a 16-year-old girl.
All the victims were friends, the newspaper reported.
It reported that Mishra had a consenting sexual relationship with the 13-year-old girl for months.
The report further stated that Mishra raped and indecently assaulted the two other girls during a drinking party that he encouraged them to participate in.
According to the report, Mishra applied for bail three times and failed, and had been in custody since being charged with the offences last October.
The court heard that the man showed no remorse during the course of the trial.
Judge Adeane sentenced Mishra to 10 years for rape, two years for sexual assault charges and 12 months for the indecent assault charge, all to be served concurrently.
