HOTELIERS and more villagers on the island of Taveuni have joined police in the search for three men who have been missing at sea since Sunday.
Police spokesman Inspector Atunaisa Sokomuri said hoteliers had assisted by providing boats to help in the search.
"The men are still missing and the search has continued in the waters of Taveuni," Insp Sokomuri said.
"We are happy that hoteliers in Qamea and Laucala Island have joined to assist police in the search.
"The villagers have also come out in numbers to help out with the search and we are pleading to members of the public to contact police if they see any signs or clues that may lead to finding the missing men out at sea.
"The captain of the boat is in hospital recovering.
"He managed to swim ashore and was found by some villagers who were on their way to Qamea."
Insp Sokomuri said the four men from Lovonivonu had left Rabi Island for a fishing trip on another island near Qamea on Tuesday last week and failed to return on Saturday.
"The matter was reported to police and the search started with the assistance of the villagers."
For the case in Bua, the captain who went missing out at sea two weekends ago still has not been found.
Insp Sokomuri said they are continuing with the search.
The captain had gone with another three men who swam safely to shore.
The two cases happened in the North within a week.
