INTERNATIONAL School Suva held a peace assembly on Friday to commemorate World Peace Day which is celebrated on September 21.
The primary and secondary schools marked the special assembly with songs, dance and video footages from staff and students on their thoughts of what peace is.
"It was all about creating unity, peace and harmony for all within our community, school, nationally and the world," said event co-ordinator Kate Reimann.
"We want to send the message across that working together we are stronger and we can resolve conflicts and overcome boundaries — as one we are stronger."
Ms Reimann said this year, instead of focusing on country and culture-related events, the school decided to base assemblies on different events and issues from around the world.
The students formed a human mandala which is a circle of unity and that photo is expected to be sent to the International Peace Day Organisation.
