A GROUP of cane farmers have applauded the Labasa mill performance in this crushing season.
Yesterday, labourers in Tabia and Seaqaqa were out in cane farms to maintain the consistent supply.
Seaqaqa farmer Satish Chand said this year's season was different from past years.
"We hardly have problems with the mill this season and crushing has been continuous.
"Compared to past seasons, there were continuous breakdowns so the farmers and the labourers suffer," he said.
"This season we have had to continue cutting cane to keep up with supply to the mill.
"It has been good for us because we don't have to keep labourers longer in camps when the mill is down."
Another farmer Vikash Naidu said the season was a success.
"Apart from the hiccups of transportation, we are glad that FSC has agreed to help us with costs and the mill performance has been terrific," he said.
