A RECORD number of international yachts gathered at Musket Cove Island Resort and Marina on Friday to compete at the annual Fiji Regatta Week.
Organisers of the event have confirmed a total of 90 yachts from all over the world were at the event which started with a welcome cocktail for the competitors.
Celebrating 30 years of the Fiji Regatta Week, the island resort is also paying special tribute to its founder Richard 'Dick' Smith.
The internationally famous event was the creation of Smith.
Part of Smith's vision was developing the resort and the marina to be a hub for the international yachting community visiting Fiji and the Pacific.
This contributed in a major way to the development and growth of Fiji's yachting sector and the development of other marinas around the country, as it gained international recognition.
This year, the program includes the usual sea and land events.
