ENGINEERS defended the A-grade netball title in the RFMF Wives and Mothers Club inter unit sports tournament in Suva yesterday.
The side, led by former national rep Bernadette Daurewa, overcame Navy 21-11 in the final at the National Netball Centre in Laucala.
Logistic Support Unit also retained its title in the B-grade after beating Headquarters RFMF while 3FIR was crowned the new champions in the veteran's grade.
In volleyball, Lautoka defeated Navy One to successfully defend its title.
Tournament co-ordinator Wainikiti Bogidrau said the two-day event was a success.
"It was a great two days of competition and everyone enjoyed it. We also had families of the participants who turned out in numbers to support those who were playing," she said.
"The level of competition was also high as we had some great results during the tournament."
Bogidrau said they were hoping that next year's tournament would be a bigger and a better one.
There were 23 teams participating in netball with 11 in the volleyball competition this year.
