A THREE-bedroom house on Tabulutu St at Matavolivoli settlement, Nadi, was razed on Thursday afternoon.
Upon arrival at the scene, firefighters saw the house engulfed in flames.
In a statement, the National Fire Authority said the house and its contents were destroyed in the fire.
"The house owner and family were able to get out of the house safely," it read.
"The Nadi station fire team was fighting a bush fire at Malawai in Votualevu when they received the call.
Authority CEO John O'Connor urged members of the community to take extra care and ensure a fire did not start on their property.
"NFA needs the support from the members of the community and we are urging members of the community to be more vigilant and regularly check their homes on a daily basis and get rid of all things that can start unplanned fires in homes," he said.
