A 25-YEAR-OLD woman driver is the latest road victim after she failed to negotiate a bend near Semo Village along the Queens Highway.
According to police spokesman Inspector Atunaisa Sokomuri the deceased, an accountant from Suva, was travelling from Nadi to Suva when her car veered off the road and tumbled into a ditch.
"The deceased was travelling with another 22-year-old female who was treated for minor injuries and later sent home," Insp Sokomuri said.
"It is alleged the vehicle went off the road while trying to overtake another vehicle."
He said a post-mortem examination would be conducted later today.
Insp Sokomuri said the road death toll stood at 28 compared to 31 for the same period last year.
