THE Raiwaqa Volleyball Association is hosting a 'Never Back Down' tournament on the Fiji Day to boost its membership.
The tournament to be played on October 10 at the Ed's Court will not have the top eight local clubs from the Marist tournament competing.
"One of the criteria of this tournament is it doesn't accommodate the top eight teams," tournament co-ordinator Salome Waqailiti said.
"Instead they will be invited to officiate at the tournament and also provide technical expertise to the participating teams."
Waqailiti said they would accommodate only 24 teams on first come first serve basis.
She said the entry fee was $100 per team with the winner getting $1000 cash prize.
"In total, we will have $1500 in prizemoney. We are looking at four pools of six teams and registration is open to all local teams.
"We will also invite the registered teams for some community work which we plan to do prior to the tournament.
"We are also hoping to secure some sponsors to help stage this tournament. We thank those who have helped raise the prizemoney."
Waqailiti said the weekly Raiwaqa Volleyball Association tournaments would serve as a build-up for the interested teams.
She also said the association had seven affiliated clubs and invitation was now open to any interested club wishing to join them for the new season.
