A MEDICAL team from Guangdong Eye Institute in China conducted free eye clinics at Nadi Hospital this week.
Led by institute director Prof Guo Haike, the team attended to about 200 patients who were given free eyeglasses and medication.
He said the visit was part of China's commitment to developing and assisting Fiji's health system.
"We are here through the partnership of China and Fiji in our effort to assist the people of Fiji," said Mr Haike.
"All services provided are free and we are encouraging more people to make use of this available service."
Mr Haike said the team planned to conduct training during their next visit.
Health Ministry spokesman Shalvin Deo said the visiting Chinese delegation assisted many Fijians and that the services relieved pressure on local eye surgeons.
The team is expected back early next year.
