VILLAGES being threatened by rising sea level should start moving inland, says Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama.
Speaking at a talanoa session in Nadogo, Commodore Bainimarama said life was precious and people needed to make their own decisions about moving inland.
Commodore Bainimarama said the rise in sea level was something that was beyond human control.
"People should make their own choices about moving inland, that is the best solution that I can tell people," he said.
Commodore Bainimarama was responding to concerns raised by Druadrua villager Aseri Vereivalu who related the problem that threatened his village.
Mr Vereivalu said the sea continued to eat away at their shoreline and it had nearly reached the steps of their village church.
"Something needs to be done regarding the future of our village," he said.
