IT'S an early start for Cricket Fiji juniors with the view to doing well at international events in 2014 and 2015.
Fourteen players have been named to be part of the high performance squad.
The players are Josaia Baleicikobia, Sakiusa Dokosobau, Cakacaka Cokovaki, Tuinamoli koroi, Tomasi Cagilevu, Josaia Baleicikobia, Saimoni Tuitoga, Alipate Tuidraki, Rusiate Vuanicau, Sagaitu Konusi, Metuisela Beitaki, Liam Inia, Kurt Howard and Shivneel Kirpal are all of the average age of 17 and will undergo a 15-week training program from September 16.
The boys will attend training sessions scheduled for every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday with high performance coaches on respective skill sets.
High performance manager Joe Rika said the split training session structure was to ensure that the basics of the game were perfected by the players.
"This program will allow the boys to focus more on perfecting the basics of the game as well as building their knowledge about the many aspects of cricket," he said.
"The squad will be our base in terms of selection of our junior international teams for events in 2014 and 2015."
Players have been requested to meet at the Cricket Fiji office at 4.30pm on Friday for briefing.
