THE trial of former deputy general manager of FNPF Foana Nemani started in the High Court in Suva yesterday.
The first State witness, Pretty Pritika, a senior auditor of FNPF took the witness stand.
In her evidence, Ms Pritika said she joined FNPF as a graduate trainee and was attached to the Internal Audit Department in 2003.
She said her role was to ensure the stakeholders' interest which was the FNPF members was protected at all times, ensure that management and executives followed policy and procedures and to ensure the compliance of procedures.
She told the court she was part of the team that carried out an investigation on Ms Nemani in 2007.
Ms Pritika said the directive was made by the Internal Audit manager Keva Robarobalevu upon a request from board members.
She said the Internal Audit Unit was in charge of the case and investigations were conducted within four months.
In her evidence she said investigations were based on payments that were made outside Ms Nemani's normal salary, which included housing and personal loans and salary advances.
The trial will continue today.
