FOUR fishermen will struggle to make ends meet this week after they were allegedly stripped off their hard earned catch in Malolo waters in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Speaking to this newspaper Asaeli Duvusole, Sione Vorau and Asaeli Sivo said two men from a nearby resort allegedly took fish from their boat and warned them not to enter the fishing area again.
"We did not know him but he told us that we were not allowed to dive for fish in that area," said Mr Duvusole.
"He did not even ask us to show him our licence that allowed us to dive for fish in Malolo waters."
He claimed the two men boarded an outboard motorboat belonging to one of the nearby resorts and headed straight for them when they caught sight of their boat.
"We thought they were just coming to check if we were really fishing but when they approached they kept speeding and nearly ran us over.
"We had to jump out of the boat because we thought he would crash into us."
Mr Vorau said one of the men boarded their boat and seized all of the fish they had caught throughout the night.
"One bundle of fish cost about $20 each. By the time he had come on the boat we had about 500 bundles on board," he claimed.
