FIJI under-21 netball captain Raijeli Daveua has been tagged as one of the top 10 new stars that shone at the World Youth Netball Championship in Glasgow, Scotland last week.
Daveua, who led Fiji to retaining its ninth place at the WYC, is the lone Fijian named among the best from other countries.
Her ariel defence and timing for intercept passes was a class that resulted in the selection.
Other players that made the selection include Jamaican captain and goal defender Vangelee Williams, goalkeeper Shamera Sterling, centre Khadijah Williams and goal attack Thristina Harwood.
Samantha Wallace from Trinidad and Tobago and Barbadian Shonica Warton, Chelsea Lewis of Wales, South Africa's Lisa-Marie Wiese and Natalie Haythorn Waite of England also made the cut.
Williams told The Guyana Chronicle Online that her hard work was recognised.
"I am feeling really happy about it," said 21-year-old Williams.
"I think that the hard work that I have put in leading into the championships paid off and I am glad that they recognise it."
The junior Sunshine Girls retained their bronze medal after outclassing arch rivals England 52-33 in the third place play-off.
New Zealand won the gold medal following their 52-47 victory over Australia in the final.
