ANDREAS and Eva Heege of Switzerland had never seen sugar cane, heavy-laden cane lorries, nor done fishing until they came to Labasa.
And it was quite an adventure for the couple who were part of a tourist group that arrived at Malau Wharf on the Captain Cook Cruises Reef Endeavour.
"This is our first visit to Fiji and we really love this place," Mr Heege said.
"We have learnt a lot about the Fijian way of life and are pleased to be spending our holidays here. For us, we have never seen a sugar cane plant and it's just so amazing that we can see it here in Fiji.
"We are excited to be here and we hope to return in future."
Labasa Tourism Association chairman Paul Jaduram said a total of 35 tourists arrived in the Northern town.
"They visited some historical sites and had lunch at the Civic Centre where they were also hosted to entertainments," he said.
"This is the third ship to our shores and we expect two more later in the year."
The tourists were from New Zealand, Australia and Switzerland.
