FORMER Fiji number three, Nitesh Chand hopes to land his first National Snooker Rankings Championship title in nearly two years.
Chand goes in as one of the favourites in the A Grade category of the Fiji Bitter-sponsored event this weekend.
The 29-year-old reached the final of the third rankings championship at the South Seas Club last month. He lost to winner David Reddy 4-2.
Back in November 2011 Chand upset Deepak Jai Ram 4-3 in the final to win his first and only major title.
Last week, Chand won the internal tournament at the South Seas Club.
Chand said he was slowly finding his form.
He said the pool system for the players in the top flight had made things interesting.
"I have been brushing up on my potting skills," Chand said.
"It has been a long time since I last won the national title. I missed out last month. Since then I have been practising regularly.
"I will be playing on my own turf and I have a lot to prove."
The two-day tournament will start at the Lautoka Club today.
