MAI TV has secured the rights to broadcast the 2014 FIFA World Cup which will be played in Brazil.
This after the company was awarded the sublicence in Fiji for sole TV rights to FIFA TV content between December 2013 and July 2014 by the Pacific rights holder, Click Pacific Limited.
Through this deal, Mai TV has also acquired the rights to broadcast FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in Tahiti this December, the Under-17 World Cup, the Under-17 Women's World Cup, the Under-20 Women's World Cup and the FIFA World Cup.
"We are extremely happy to have secured this agreement and are so looking forward to bringing all these wonderful tournaments to viewers here in Fiji," Mai TV's general manager Marc Santos said in a statement.
"This will be our second time to have been awarded the rights after our coverage of the spectacular 2010 South Africa World Cup and believe its confirmation of what a successful promotion that was for Fiji
"Our company began broadcasting in 2008 and we recently celebrated our 5th birthday, so this news is a wonderful belated present to give to our loyal viewers!"
