THE leading golfers will be out to stake their claim for the Ba Open Championship title later this month.
The Ba Open is among the oldest golf tournaments in the country dating back to 1933.
Ba Golf Club executive Jyoti Lal said they were celebrating the 80th anniversary of the annual challenge.
He said to top it off the RC Manubhai Group was sponsoring the event for the 43rd consecutive year.
"We would like to thank the Fiji Sugar Corporation for the maintenance and upgrade of the course," Lal said.
"The invitations have been sent out to all the golf clubs in the country. We expect the top players to enter as they are gunning for a spot in the national team for the upcoming international competitions."
Veteran Rajen Singh will lead the home charge. Olaf Allen Jr will spearhead Suva's campaign.
Youngster Baarroon Hussain, Anuresh Chandra, Mohammed Faiyaz and Roneel Prakash are among the favourites from Nadi while Lautoka's Prem Chand and James Krishna are title contenders as well.
