WITH the Australian federal elections taking place tomorrow, Fiji's Elections permanent secretary Mohammed Saneem will be in Canberra to observe polling.
Mr Saneem said the Elections Office was pleased to be given the opportunity to observe how elections were run in Australia and to see what lessons could be applied to Fiji.
"In Fiji, the Elections Office is making preparations to hold the 2014 parliamentary election in one day," he said in a statement.
"This is the practice in most of the world's democracies, including Australia, because it is the most cost-efficient and transparent method, with less opportunity for fraud."
Mr Saneem will be accompanied by principal elections officer Asenaca Kolinivala.
They travel to Australia under the Australian Electoral Commission's Election Visitor Program.
