MAGISTRATE Chaitanya Lakshman extended bail for a Taveuni farmer charged with one count of giving false information on a public document, two counts of uttering a false document and one of bigamy.
Reading the details of the charges in court, prosecutor Sergent Jitendra Singh said on May 12, 1993, Utiko Nabunobuno gave false information to a clerical officer in the Suva Registrar of Birth office to obtain a birth certificate as Utiko Waqavuni.
Sgt Singh said the accused, on February 18, 2005, then gave a false birth certificate as part of an application for Utiko Waqavuni with intent to defraud and obtain a Fiji passport.
On September 7, 2007, the accused also used a false birth certificate for an application to marry a woman while he was still married to another.
He pleaded guilty to all four charges and will appear for mitigation on September 23.
