THE Western Dialysis Centre in Nadi continues to receive a large number of patients.
Centre director Dr Zen Low said they had been busy since the Wellness Clinic was opened earlier this month.
"When we opened we saw about 50 new patients and out of the 50, 20 of them needed dialysis," Dr Low said.
"That was just during the first year of the clinic. But we also have those that go to the government hospitals which are unaccounted for."
Dr Low said the disease was a real problem in the country.
"We have a very big problem in Fiji and we can only stress the importance of wellness and people taking responsibility for their health."
Dr Low said the centre partnered the Health Ministry to provide free dialysis treatment to the public in an effort to address the problem.
