THE Digicel Fiji 7s team will only take nine players to the Pacific Mini Games which is being held in Wallis and Futuna.
This after the side dropped experienced Jone Vota because of disciplinary reasons.
It is believed Vota failed to follow Fiji Rugby Union's instruction and played in a local 7s competition.
Earlier the side lost forward Jasa Veremalua to injury after dropping Nadroga trio Apisai Domolailai, Sakiusa Gavidi and Ratu Meli Kurisaru for failing to join the team.
Despite the setback, the Benito Masilevu-skippered side remains hopeful of bagging gold medal in the games.
Yesterday, sponsors Digicel Fiji hosted the players and management to a farewell morning tea before they depart this Saturday.
"We want to thank our sponsors, Digicel Fiji for assisting the team and the players in our preparation and we hope to do our best and fulfill your wishes at the Mini Games next week," Masilevu said.
"We have many new faces in this team and they'll be playing at their first tournament so surely the boys will be out to prove a point."
Digicel Fiji head of marketing Sheryl Singh said "we are hopeful that the Digicel Fiji 7s will return with the gold medal from Wallis and Futuna."
Fiji 7s side settled for a silver medal in the 2009 PMG in Rarotonga, Cook Islands, going down to Samoa 12-38 in the final.
