THREE buses belonging to Dalip Chand and Sons Limited in Labasa are still grounded for further inspection.
LTA spokesman Iliesa Sokia said yesterday the buses were still not roadworthy enough to be put back on the roads.
Early last week, six of the company's buses were grounded following an incident in which the engine of another company's bus caught fire on Waisali Hill on the Savusavu-Labasa highway.
"Three (buses) have been released and the other three are still grounded for further inspection," Mr Sokia said.
"We need to carry out a thorough inspection to ensure the buses are fit for service.
"Until we are satisfied, the buses won't be released. For now, the buses continue to be grounded."
Authority CEO Naisa Tuinaceva earlier said the inspection was in the best interest of the travelling public.
It was earlier reported that 11 passengers escaped unhurt when the bus caught fire on a hill. They were guided to safety by Pastor Jotame Seli.
