And the Fiji Police Force has given a directive to its officers to take individuals found setting fire to cane to task.
From August 31 to this morning, another 12 cases were recorded in the West with an estimated cost of damage of more than $55,000. Six reported cases are from Ba and six are from Nadi.
Police spokeswoman Ana Naisoro said the 342 cane fire cases reported so far resulted in millions of dollars loss to the sugar industry.
