THE North Police team has started preparations for its upcoming Commissioner's Cup challenge match against the Police Headquarters team from Suva next week.
The match, which was scheduled for this week, has been moved to Wednesday next week.
North Police team coach Jullian Ravuiwasa said the game had been moved to allow the HQ team players playing for the Suva side to participate in the Farebrother Sulliven Trophy challenge match against Namosi this week.
"By next week these players should be free to play the challenge match against our team for the Commissioner's Cup," he said.
"Our team is made of very young players and they are underdogs, mostly gutsy young players.
"We have started training for the first week now and we are focusing on developing their upper body strength."
Ravuiwasa said their young age was motivation to put in the extra effort in training to give the opponents a good match next week.
"We have a few civilian players who are playing for our side and this is part of our efforts to involve the community in under the Duavata Community Policing model. The North believes in the community and police partnership as the way forward for policing."
