AN investigation into the accident that led to the death of a 44-year-old mill worker at Lautoka earlier this year is nearing completion.
FSC executive chairman Abdul Khan said the Labour Ministry had completed its inquiry and was in the process of finalising the investigation.
"I understand that all the interviews with the various personnel have been completed," Mr Khan said.
"This was carried out by the Ministry of Labour and in due course, they will finalise the investigation report."
Samuela Sigatokacake suffered 50 per cent burns to his body after the support structure of an evaporator gave way, pouring tonnes of extremely hot liquid on the factory floor in July this year. He was rushed to Lautoka the Hospital and was reportedly responding positively to treatment but died three days later.
Police confirmed an investigation had been launched into the incident after they received a complaint from the Fiji Sugar and General Workers Union.
Mr Sigatokacake is survived by his wife, Unaisi, and four young children.
