NEWLY-crowned Nadi Open champion Baarroon Hussain will team up with his father, Abid, during the Srixon Cleveland Fiji Amateur Foursomes Championship on Sunday.
The 16-year-old Nadi Muslim College student surprised many after becoming the youngest ever major amateur title winner at the Nadi Airport Golf Club last weekend.
The father and son combination will pose the biggest threat to defending champions Olaf Allen Jr and Roneel Prakash.
National Golf Association of Fiji secretary Amitesh Chandra says Abid and Baarroon will rely on home course advantage.
"Barroon's current form is really good," Chandra said.
"The other contenders would be the brother combination of Munesh and Praneel Prasad of Nadi. Asish Chand and Nilesh Chand will be a formidable pair while VK Singh and Vikash Chand will lead the charge from Suva.
"The one-day event is expected to attract more than 20 teams. The entry fee for the event is $80 per team and closes on September 5.
"This is one of many events leading up to the other remaining majors for the year such as the Ba Open, Vatukoula Open, the Fiji Golf Open and Pacific Harbour Open."
The Fiji Amateur Foursomes will be played at Nadi Airport Golf Club.
