THE Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) is upgrading its waste water lines in the Suva City area.
This will enable the authority to improve its service delivery to the customers by minimising overflows and blockages.
The waste water relining project commenced last week.
Team leader Wastewater Central/Eastern Matapule Finiasi said the main objective of the operation was to reline the existing waste water pipes in the Suva area, which had not been upgraded for more than 20 years.
"Suva area has been identified for this project due to the high cases of damaged pipes which leads to infiltration of sea and storm water," he said.
Mr Finiasi said the project was being carried out to minimise operational costs.
He said Fletcher Construction was contracted to carry out the project.
