THE Western teams made a clean sweep in the Fiji Police Wives Volleyball tournament that ended yesterday at the Police Special Response Unit (PSRU) in Makoi.
Western I defeated Western II by two sets to one to win the A-grade competition while Western III overcame Western IV by similar score line to clinch the B-grade title.
The Western I team consists of players from Lautoka while Western II had police wives from the Nadi area.
Sigatoka police wives made up the Western III side while the Western IV had players from Ba and Tavua areas.
Tournament official Jokatama Qio said the rainy weather failed to dampen the spirit of the players who ignited the competition with some fine sets of play.
Qio said the achievement of the Western teams could be historic as it was rare to have teams from one division in the finals.
He hailed the two-day tournament a success.
The Western Division will be hosting the tournament next year and Qio said they have promised a "bigger and better" event in 2014.
Meanwhile, the Eastern side won the netball competition beating Police Special Response Unit in the final.
