ARMY retained its champion status in the Tailevu Rugby Union club competition.
This is after it beat Dravuni 36-18 to win the Senior A club competition at the Nakelo District School ground yesterday.
It's two-in-a-row for Army as the club pocketed $800 for winning the competition. Dravuni walked away with $400 as runner-up.
Laced with experienced players such as Jaoji Dakuvula, Jeke Lalai and Manueli Gade, Army shrugged off an early threat from Dravuni in the opening 30 minutes of the game.
Dravuni equally matched the champions but later lost concentration on a heavy-footed ground condition in Nakelo as Army gained its momentum to seal another title in the bag.
In the Senior B final, Nadali beat Cautata 15-5 to walk away with $400. Nadali won $200 as runner-up.
Tebara Bus TRU secretary Jone Batiwale said they acknowledged the sponsors for sponsoring the finals.
"The trophies and prizemoney were donated by Dr Esther Wininamaori Batiri Williams," he said.
"She is our nominee for the FRU board and we are so thankful to her for supporting us."
Batiwale also thanked the players and clubs for their participation this season. He congratulated Army and Nadali for winning the two divisions this year.
