THE Methodist Church in Fiji does not want to burden all its members to raise funds for the renovation of Baker Hall in Davuilevu.
Speaking on behalf of the president, Reverend Tuikilakila Waqairatu, during a media conference this week, communication secretary Reverend James Bhagwan said the renovation of Baker Hall would be from remnant giving.
"The president wants the members of the church to understand the concept of remnant giving.
"The idea is looking at the most committed members of the church. It's looking at the concept of not burdening everybody and finding those that are willing to commit in supporting the project," Mr Bhagwan said.
The president presented this matter to the church delegates and the members yesterday afternoon in hopes that renovations for Baker Hall be completed by October next year.
"There has been quite a donation from communities and churches from overseas for Baker Hall, and the balance that is left to cater for the expense is the responsibility of the local church to raise the funds," Mr Bhagwan said.
