Lautoka will be banking on a couple of experienced players to guide the youthful team when they face Suva in the opening Farebrother-Sullivan Trophy challenge at the ANZ Stadium this afternoon.
The only notable names in the Maroons squad are Peniona Ranitu, Taione Ratu, Timoci Vuadreu and Kelemedi Bola.
The Sugar City side travelled early to the Capital City yesterday and camped at the Queen Elizabeth Barracks in Nabua last night.
Lautoka Rugby Union secretary Salesi Vulakoro said they would be going into the match as underdogs despite beating Suva 16-10 in the Digicel Cup competition earlier this year.
Vulakoro said the morale of the players was high.
"We have a very young team with a few old heads," Vulakoro said.
"This is what makes us unpredictable. We have been forced to fast-track our preparations after being named as the first challenger.
"Suva has done their homework. For us there is nothing to lose. The boys will go out there and give all that they have."
"It will be an interesting affair. Our sponsor Abdul Khaiyum Rafiq is certainly excited because this is the first time for him to support the team for the prized trophy challenge.
"We lacked in some areas during the Digicel Cup and the coaches have worked on the kicking game and the set piece play."
Lautoka last held the Farebrother Trophy in 2003 under the guidance of Mulase Bainivalu, Sireli Bulicokocoko and Osea Koliloa.
