THE Ministry of Social Welfare has partnered with the South Pacific Business Development and BSP to train women to become competent finance managers of their homes and communities.
According to the ministry, 51 women from Kadavu attended a financial literacy training at the Fiji Women's Federation Office on Wednesday.
Minister for Women Dr Jiko Luveni said she hoped this project would help rural women broaden their knowledge and make wise financial decisions.
South Pacific Business Development Microfinance (Fiji) general manager Elrico Munoz said the training would focus on four major components — planning, earning, spending and savings.
Among the participants were Miriama Moceiwasa and Sera Tatau, who were solar engineers from Kadavu.
"We will go back and share these skills and apply it in our solar committee to ensure effective measurements of the solar projects," Mrs Moceiwasa said.
The solar engineers have solar electrified 43 households in their villages, according to a statement from the ministry.
