SEEKING what every couple wants on their wedding, Australian newly-weds Anita and Justin Schaller exchanged vows on board the first submarine built in Fiji for the tourist market.
The couple, who met six years ago on social network site Facebook, could not contain their joy as they committed to a new life together while the sun set over Port Denarau Marina on Thursday afternoon.
"We wanted what every couple wanted which is a memorable wedding and what better way to achieve it than to have it on a submarine," said the new Mrs Schaller, adding that the whole experience has been amazing.
"This is our first time to Fiji and I can't even tell you what my favourite moment is, there have been so many wonderful moments so far.
"At first there were a few nerves because it was a new country for us and we hadn't seen the wedding venue, but as we arrived we just felt at ease with the place when we met the people and visited all of these beautiful places.
"It's just a great place to have your wedding and honeymoon."
Mr Schaller, a professional photographer, said the wedding would not have been possible without the help of their I Do Fiji wedding planner, Sam Prasad.
"Sam has been so great and he just made everything so easy for us," he said.
A former Fiji citizen, Mr Prasad said he wanted to offer couples in Australia a different wedding experience in Fiji.
"We run specialised unique weddings instead of the usual resort or chapel weddings," he said.
