THE Lautoka Primary Schools Rugby Union (LPSRU) was handed a cheque of $5000 by Courts and Sports World in Suva last week.
This is part of the two-year $10,000 sponsorship deal secured by the union to help develop kaji rugby in Lautoka.
Five out of the six Lautoka Kaji teams featured in the semi-finals during the Milo Kaji competition in Suva.
LPSRU president Tirani Uluinakauvadra said with the results, they achieved their goals set for this year.
He said only one team played in the semi-final last year.
"We would like to thank our sponsors Courts and Sports World for their support in funding our new development program where our elite players will go through special rugby drills," Uluinakauvadra said.
"Our partnership will enable children and parents to enjoy special discount on any purchase from Sports World.
"We thank Anil Senewiratne and Vinod Kumar and the Courts team for having faith in us," he said.
Kumar, the general manager of Sports World said with the sponsorship they expected to see more rugby development and a better Lautoka Kaji team at next year's national event.
