NAITASIRI Northern Bulls secured a bonus point 24-7 victory over Nakasaleka to edge them closer to qualifying for the B Division semi-finals.
Two tries each to number eight Simione Qerewaqa and winger Inoke Buadromo brought the curtains down on Nakasaleka despite the side from Kadavu having a game in hand.
Buadromo opened the scoreboard two minutes into the game.
Qerewaqa scored his first try in the eighth minute before completing his brace in the 28th minute.
Flyhalf Josefa Torolevu converted both tries as the Bulls led 19-0 at the break. Seven minutes into the second spell and Buadromo crossed over for his double before Nakasaleka replied with a converted try to flyhalf Patemo Niurua.
The revived Bulls, which drew 11-all with Rewa in their first game, played a more constructive game in the second spell. Coach Manasa Radrotini was pleased with the performance of his boys.
"This is our second game and we are very happy with the outcome," he said.
"I was happy with our ball retention and the boys gave their best during the match. Hats off to Nakasaleka for giving us a good game."
Nakasaleka coach Akeai Ratubale said his boys tried their best.
"It was a good effort from the boys," he said. "We went through a lot of difficulties trying to put together this team. But I am happy we have come this far to play in the competition."
He said they needed to get back to the drawing board before their next game against Rewa on Saturday.
