FOUR men from Tavarua Island facing criminal charges have been granted bail by the Nadi Magistrates Court.
Kitione Moqili, Solomone Vatoga, Navitalai Senito and Ilaisa Momo appeared before Magistrate Kashyapa Wickeramasekara yesterday afternoon charged with one count of damaging property and one count of common nuisance.
After hearing submissions from defence lawyer Eroni Maopa, Mr Wickeramasekara granted the men a $2000 bail bond each.
Mr Maopa assured the court that the men would adhere to the strict bail conditions imposed on them.
The court ordered that the men report to the Nawai Police Station every Friday and not to interfere with prosecution witnesses and investigations.
The magistrate also imposed a 12-hour curfew on the villagers.
The men were told not to leave their homes from 6pm to 6am.
The four accused persons allegedly cut the rope of the Cloud 9 restaurant and Bar of Tavarua Island causing it to drift about 15 metres from the island.
The men will reappear on October 31 for mention.
