THE Raiwaqa Grantham Youth Group believe they can make a difference and reach out to other youths in the area as they look to curb crime.
The group, with 25 members, was formed two months ago by the Raiwaqa Police Post.
"They thought a few of us would form a dance group and perform at the 2013 Vodafone Hibiscus Festival," youth leader Osric Fong said.
"Since then the group has been growing. We have had so much interest and the dance group has been on demand at the Hibiscus Festival since the opening last Saturday."
The group hopes to continue performing even after the Hibiscus Festival and plans are in place with corporate companies for sponsorship.
"We want to have a better future and if dancing keeps these youths away from committing crime and falling into a negative lifestyle then we will work hard.
"These youths have so much potential, and it's not just dancing. We need people to support us so we can exploit the talents and the true potential that they have," Mr Fong said.
